1. Anti-virus Programs: make an exception for C:\data as anti-virus software can disrupt database operations, resulting in irreparable data corruption.
2. Safe Practices: do not run any other programs simultaneously, disconnect from wifi/internet, and close the META software immediately after finishing test sessions. If you forget to shut down the software, the database will likely get corrupted. If this happens, do not close the META software program. Make a copy of the "C:\data\BIOREZ_META\basedat" folder and name it "basedat good" before terminating the program since this action can cause data corruption. You can then rename the "basedat" folder to "basedat old" and rename "basedat good" to "basedat". Contact us for help if this is too confusing or you cannot restore your data.
3. Backup your data just before closing the software.
4. Ensure you have the latest version of the software. At the time of this writing, that is version 1.25.1.1, as shown in the image above. We will notify you by e-mail of any software updates.
5. Ensure Windows is updated.
6. Check your USB ports for proper function. The following scenarios can lead to a crash and data corruption:
- faulty cable or loose cable connection
- USB port voltage can fluctuate or lack sufficient voltage
- port address conflicts
Using a powered USB hub can help address power issues and port address conflicts.

6. Sometimes, the META software opens windows that disappear or are hard to bring on the screen. This most often happens when saving a report and focus is lost on the "Save As" message box. The focus is on this message box; thus, it is impossible to control or close the software. In this case, use Win+D or Win+arrow keys left/right to gain control of the "Save As" message box. Do not close the software with "End Task" or shut down the computer while the META software is open, as this will corrupt the database.
7. If the software crashes, take a screenshot for diagnostic purposes and send it to us (support@biorez.life). Load the software again; if you are promoted to repair the database, choose "No." Go to Settings and Restore a previous backup. If you don't have a suitable backup or would prefer not to restore the data, reset the database by replacing your "C:\data\BIOREZ_META\basedat" folder. Rename your "basedat" folder to "basedat old". Download basedat.zip from Biorez Cloud Files (use search) and unzip into "C:\data\BIOREZ_META\". You can also reinstall the main BIOREZ software, which will reset this folder.
