Accessing the Biorez Cloud on mobile devices

The Biorez Cloud is a private and secure Nextcloud service for Biorez partners to use. Nextcloud is an open-source platform for file sharing and communication. Specific mobile apps have been developed for Nextcloud. It is best to use these applications when using mobile devices. With Nextcloud, you control your photos, calendar, contact data, documents, and everything else.

QUICK LINKS & TIPS
There are 2 main "Apps" for Apple and Android that you should install:

Nextcloud Talk App—This is the main app for communications on the Biorez cloud. Use this app to access your BIOREZ live support chat, group discussions, and channels.

Download the Nextcloud Talk App for:
     Apple -> Click here
     Android -> Click here

Nextcloud Files App is the main app for securely accessing and managing videos, documents, and other files.
If you want to securely play internal videos and access cloud files shared in the Talk App, make sure that you install this app.

Download the Nextcloud Files App for:
     Apple -> Click here
     Android -> Click here

Important: If you are trying to access videos and other files on your mobile device and receive a "403 Forbidden" message (see image below), it is likely because the Files App is not installed. The link was directed to the default browser.  Since the file was shared with you privately and securely, you cannot access it on the browser without authorization. Install the Files App and try again.  It should work now.  In some cases, on Apple devices, the link might still get directed to the default browser even if the Files App is installed.

This seems to be a known issue where Nextcloud Talk does not properly hand off internal links to the Nextcloud Files app on iOS. Here are some possible solutions and workarounds:

1. Ensure Both Apps Are Updated

  • Check the App Store for updates to Nextcloud Talk and Nextcloud Files.
  • Bug fixes in newer versions may resolve the issue.

2. Enable "Always Stay Logged In" in the Browser

  • If you must use the browser, log in to Nextcloud in Safari and check "Stay logged in" when signing in.
  • This helps prevent 403 errors when opening links.

3. Manually Open Links in Nextcloud Files

  • Copy the internal link from Talk.
  • Open Nextcloud Files and paste it into the search or address bar to access it directly.

4. Try an Alternate Browser (Workaround)

  • Some users report better integration with Firefox Focus or Microsoft Edge instead of Safari.

Optional but Highly Recommended:
Nextcloud Password Manager App—This is a very useful app for managing your online passwords. It also acts as an AutoFill service, making logging in on Android and Apple mobile devices easier.
